Safe Environment

Birth Center Birth

A birth center offers an alternative and safe environment to welcome the newest member of your family.

With our family centered care, you are welcome to be surrounded by your family and friends, or keep it simple and have just you and your partner.

Usage of herbs, aromatherapy, massage, and movement help to facilitate your natural birth. Our birth center is warm and welcoming and allows space for movement, light refreshment, and rest. Spend time after the birth bonding with your wee one , knowing all baby exams are done bedside.

Postpartum visits are a mixture of home visits and clinic visits, taking care of both mom and baby.

Water Birth

Water Births

Water birth is an increasingly popular way to birth and not surprisingly as it is an amazing way to manage the pain of labor.

What is water birth? It is laboring and birthing in water. Some women choose to labor in water and get out of the tub to birth. Other moms choose to labor in the shower, and even birth there!

The use of water reduces stress and promotes relaxation. It allows freedom of movement, reduces blood pressure, helps relax the pelvic floor and reduces the need for drugs and other interventions. Water birth may even speed labor! Babies do not breath under water and water birth allows for an easy transition from uterine life to extrauterine life.

Haven Birth Center has multiple tubs,  where mom can use warm water to reduce her pain of labor. We also have a wonderful shower in the birth room.

Haven supplies an inflatable tub with separate liner and tub supplies for our home birth clients.

Postpartum Care

Postpartum Care

Postpartum care of mom and baby is so important. Haven Midwives are available 24/7 for any concerns after you leave our birth center.

We do a home visit at 24-36 hours. During this visit we will screen the baby for congenital heart defects, as well as a metabolic screening. After this visit we send all newborn exam records to your pediatrician of choice. This visit is also an examination of mom, including breastfeeding support, and continual monitoring of maternal emotional wellbeing.

We will also see mom and baby at home between days 3 and 5, and at the clinic at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks.
